Who we are
Sukkela is operated by Storyroots Oy (Finnish business ID 3604351-2), Helsinki, Finland. In these terms, "we", "us", and "Sukkela" mean Storyroots Oy.
The service
Sukkela is a free Helsinki city-bike and walking route planner with live station availability. It is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, for your personal, non-commercial use.
Acceptable use
- Don't scrape the service at abusive rates or attempt to disrupt it.
- Don't use the service in ways that violate HSL, city-bike, or other third-party data terms.
- Don't use the service for illegal purposes or to harm others.
Third-party data
Routing, station, weather, and place information come from third parties including HSL, Digitransit, OpenWeather, Lipas, ServiceMap, and Google Maps. Their respective terms apply to that data. Live availability and routes are best-effort; you are responsible for safe and lawful travel.
Tips and payments
Tips are voluntary contributions to support Sukkela's operation. Payments are handled by Stripe under Stripe's terms. Receipts are issued by Stripe.
Refund policy
Tips are voluntary gifts, not payment for a service, so they are non-refundable once processed. We still want you to have a good experience — if something clearly went wrong (you were charged twice, the amount looks off, or the payment didn't go through the way you expected), email nicolas@afoundersfriend.com and we'll take a look and make it right where we reasonably can.
Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under Finnish or EU law.
Intellectual property
The Sukkela app code, design, and original copy are © Storyroots Oy. Attribution to public data sources is retained per each source's license.
Disclaimers and liability
Sukkela is provided without warranty of accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by Finnish law, Storyroots Oy is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by mandatory law, including statutory consumer rights.
Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Disputes will be settled by the Helsinki District Court (Helsingin käräjäoikeus), unless mandatory consumer-protection rules give a consumer user the right to bring the dispute in the courts of their place of residence.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site; continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
